White Christmas

White Christmas was written by Irving Berlin in 1940, with the version sung by Bing Crosby commonly assumed to be the best selling single of all time, with over 50 million copies worldwide. Berlin worked at night by the poolside when he wrote the song, stating to his secretary the next day that, “grab your pen and take down this song. I just wrote the best song I’ve ever written – hell, I just wrote the best song that anybody’s ever written!”

Although very popular since its first recording, the song received a boost in the early 1990s, with lead character Kevin in Home Alone lip syncing the lyrics while he is applying his father’s aftershave.
